Non-Supported Rel Link Attributes Have No Impact In Google Search

Few days back, Google’s John Mueller tweeted something valid but in a sarcastic way that some made wrong assumptions out of it.

He said if you’re inquisitive if the rel=dofollow works on links. The thing is, it could have been any rel attribute, such as rel=cheese and it would be treated the same as rel=dofollow, Google would bypass the attribute.

The only attributes Google would determinate and take action is with the supported link attributes, such as rel=nofollow, rel=sponsored, and rel=ugc. 

The rel=dofollow signifies nothing to Google, Google will just crawl it like there was no rel link attribute.
