Google Updates Policy Circumvention Guidelines to Combat Spam and Misleading Content

In an effort to combat spam and misleading content on its platform, Google has updated its policy circumvention guidelines. The company has simplified the language in the policy circumvention section of its spam policies based on user feedback.

The updated guidelines state that Google may take appropriate action, including restricting or removing eligibility for some of its search features  (for example, Top Stories, Discover), if users engage in actions intended to bypass the company’s spam or content policies for Google Search.

Examples of policy circumvention include creating or using multiple sites with the intention of continuing to violate Google’s policies, or using other methods intended to continue distributing content or engaging in behavior that aims to violate the policies.

The new guidelines aim to provide greater transparency and accountability for users, and to ensure that Google’s platform remains a safe and trustworthy space for all. Google continues to encourage users to report any violations of its policies, and pledges to take appropriate action to address them.
