Bing Search: 71% of users giving AI-powered answers “thumbs up”

Microsoft has launched an all-new, AI-powered version of Bing search engine, which includes not only search functionality but also an Edge web browser and an integrated chat feature. The goal of this new version of Bing is to provide a more comprehensive search experience for users, delivering better search results, more complete answers to questions, and content creation tools.

The new Bing has been made available in a limited preview, with testing being conducted in over 169 countries to get real-world feedback. The results of the first seven days of testing have been positive, with increased engagement on traditional search results and the new features such as summarized answers, the new chat experience, and the content creation tools. Users have also given positive feedback on the AI-powered answers generated by the new Bing, with 71% of users giving these answers a “thumbs up.”

Microsoft has also received feedback on areas where the new Bing can be improved, including the need for more direct and factual answers for queries related to financial reports, and the potential to add a toggle that gives users more control on the precision vs. creativity of the answer. Additionally, Microsoft is looking at how to give users more fine-tuned control over the tone and style of the responses from the chat feature, particularly in long, extended chat sessions.

Overall, Microsoft is committed to improving the new Bing search engine and providing the best search/answer/chat/create experience possible, with regular updates on the changes and progress being made.
