Tiktok achieves a new milestone, crosses 1 billion monthly active users

TikTok has surpassed a new milestone by achieving over 1 billion monthly active users worldwide. According to reports, the popular social video app announced the news in a blog post, on Monday.

The video streaming app also took to Twitter thanking its global user community. “Every month, more than 1 billion people across the world visit TikTok to be amused while learning, laughing, or discovering something new,” the business wrote in a blog post. “We’re privileged to have a home for our enormously varied community of families, small companies, and innovators who change into our favourite celebrities,” Tik Tok added.

By January 2018, the firm claimed to have about 55 million global users. By December 2018, the number had risen to over 271 million and 508 million by December 2019.

Earlier in July, TikTok announced that over 689 million monthly active users globally were creating or utilising content on the video streaming app. According to reports, during COVID-19 lockdowns, the app exploded in popularity, topping the 2 billion worldwide download milestone way early in the pandemic.
