Page Experience update to drop ranking: Myth or Fact?

Google has kicked off rolling out the Page Experience update but this particular update will be slowly but surely deployed through the end of August 2021. The search engine shall stop using AMP for the eligibility of the top stories and instead use ‘Core Web Vitals’ to step up the page experience factors.

Google gave a heads up of this upgradation of technology quite well in advance for the online businesses and corporations to tweak or adjust the errors.

According to Google, “The page experience signal measures aspects of how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page. Optimizing for these factors makes the web more delightful for users across all web browsers and surfaces, and helps sites evolve towards user expectations on mobile. We believe this will contribute to business success on the web as users grow more engaged and can transact with less friction.” The whole idea of this update is to ensure that the top ranking websites provide not only relevant content but also provide a user-friendly page experience.

But the real question is, if this big shift in SEO will lead to a sudden drop in the rankings? The answer is no, we do not expect a huge drop or impact to your rankings from this particular update. Google is likely to start using the various page experience signals of the top ranking web pages and carousels for eligibility. The change has been expected for over a year and after aggressive testing the search engine is rolling out the update giving the time to check all the boxes for a great core web vital score. However, the SEO world seems to have panicked foreseeing the June 2 rollout and slow rolling out of Page Experience Update.

Well, the idea is to provide the best possible and suited results to the searcher on the basis of what the user likes. The update signals will measure aspects on how users shall perceive your web page’s experience. This shall simply optimise some existing factors and provide a score offering an amazing experience on the web for the audience helping the business to evolve towards user expectations. User experience is going to be a more and more important aspect of SEO overtime. Hence, the Page Experience update and the launch of supporting tools  is likely to improve the direct engagement, diversify the ecosystem and deliver a better experience.

If your traffic hasn’t tanked or gone up in the last few days then don’t worry the Page Experience algorithm update has no role to play as it has not been completely rolled in yet.
